For the second year, I had the honor of graphic recording a California Community Foundation session dedicated to something we all desperately need: rest. Led by Dr. Torie Weiston-Serdan at the Youth Mentoring Action Network, educators gathered to explore what she powerfully terms "Radical Rest."

The session revealed simple yet profound truths:

  • Daydreaming isn't wasted time—it's fuel for imagination

  • Healing happens together, not in isolation

  • Our self-imposed urgency often drains us unnecessarily

  • Rest is not a reward to be earned—it's a fundamental need

How about you? How are you creating space for rest in your own life? In my journey toward better self-care, I've learned that sometimes the most productive thing I can do is daydream and remember that my worth isn't measured by my output.
