In a world where everything is more and more divided, I want to share an inspiring theme I’ve seen in recent conferences. It's the idea of bringing together people of all ages.

The University of Utah recently hosted the Age Friendly Communities Symposium. Their three pillars to create an Age Friendly Ecosystem are: Healthcare, Neighborhoods and Campuses.

I loved some of the ideas that came out of their brainstorming sessions, such as using neighborhood coffee shops as waiting rooms, bringing older adults into campus activities, and creating more age friendly neighborhoods with benches and multimodal pathways.

Communities can be out of balance when only young or older people live in them. Bringing together people of all ages makes for a richer experience where everyone benefits.
