Happy New Year! I hope this finds you in good health and ready to step into new adventures that expand your horizons in 2021.

I'm excited to start the year graphic recording the ASU Shaping EDU Winter Games Conference because it gives me a chance to expand. I'll be visually capturing keynotes and plenary discussions throughout the week. Equally rewarding, I get to stretch my skills by creating animated gifs promoting the event, and a summary video that will be sent to attendees after.

At events like this I'm often approached by people who want to learn how take visual notes. They might simply want to make nicer flip charts or improve their handwriting, but don't know where to start.

If that's the case for you, my great friend and colleague Emily Shepard has created a wonderful online course called "Draw It Out!" to teach you the fundamentals of visual thinking. Emily has been a graphic facilitator in the Bay Area for 20 years. She's not only one of the best in the business, she's also hilarious and delightful and will have you laughing as you learn to draw lines and circles. If this is something you've been wanting to learn, I highly recommend her course. And if you use this link you'll receive 20% off the normal price of $297 from now until January 20th! Just use the promo code: HappyNewYear2021 at checkout.

Whether you learn visual note taking or decide this is the year to take up scuba diving, I wish you the best as you go for gold in 2021!
